Step 2: Interview Process
We’re excited to learn more about you! If selected, you’ll receive an invitation to interview virtually. Our interview process varies by role level, some positions require one conversation, while others involve a series of interviews with key team members. We keep the process as efficient and meaningful as possible, regardless of the number of steps.
Before Your Interview
- Understand the role. Take a few minutes to review the job description and think about how your experience connects.
- Get to know us. Learn about our High Performing Connected Culture and Block Behaviors—they’re key to how we work and succeed together.
- Set up your space. Check your Wi-Fi, camera, and microphone. Choose a quiet spot with a clean, professional background.
During Your Interview
- Think of recruiter as guide. That first conversation isn’t just a welcome, it’s part of the process. Your recruiter helps determine if this role is the right fit for you.
- Know what we’re looking for. Expect a mix of behavioral and situational questions, and be ready to share examples of problem-solving, collaboration, and delivering results.
- Bring questions. Interviews are a two-way conversation. Ask about the role, the team, and what it’s like to work here.
After Your Interview
- Next steps. We’ll follow up promptly.
- Send thank-you note. It’s a great way to show appreciation and keep the conversation going.
Step 3: Offer & Background Check
Congratulations—we think you’d rock at Block! If you’re selected, you’ll receive an offer and start the pre-employment steps, which include:
- Completing a background check
- Finishing online onboarding tasks
- Confirming work eligibility (I-9 form)
Step 4: Onboarding
Once your background check clears, you’re almost there.
- Keep an eye out for emails with your onboarding steps.
- Review emails for your login credentials and IT setup instructions.
You’ll also join This is Block — a company‑wide orientation that introduces you to our history, vision, and ways of working, while helping you build connections along the way.
Step 5: Career Growth & Development
With tools, resources, and support from leaders, everyone at H&R Block owns their professional path. From Individual Development Plans (IDPs) to goal‑setting and exploration opportunities, the sky’s the limit for your future.

Interview Prep Tips
We want you to feel confident going into your interview. One way to stand out and succeed at H&R Block is to learn about our High Performing Connected Culture. Think about how you would apply behaviors like customer centricity, learning agility, accountability, everyday feedback, and delivering results in the role.
Other tips:
- Check your tech. Make sure your Wi-Fi connection is strong and your camera and microphone are working.

Step 3: Offer & Background Check
Congratulations—you’ve received an offer! After receiving your offer, the background check process begins. Keep an eye on your inbox for emails from our background check vendor, then complete any required documentation promptly.
Step 4: Onboarding
Once your background check clears, you’re almost there! Be on the lookout for emails with onboarding instructions, training details, and first-day information. Your onboarding includes enhanced training designed to build confidence and expertise. We’re committed to helping you serve clients with clarity and care.
Step 5: Career Growth & Development
